The Nanites are one of the many FIRST Lego League (FLL) Robotics teams in Portland, Oregon. All over the world, FLL teams are engaged in learning and creating, and we are lucky to have this opportunity to be on a team. We are currently comprised of 4 team members, and 2 amazing coaches, and through our years of being on a team, we've learned so much about science, engineering & technology, leadership, teamwork, creativity, and communication.
In January, we placed 1st in the State Tournament, and so we're invited to the 2010 Atlanta World Festival in April!
History of Nanites
2005 . 4th Grade - Our robotics team started, known as the "Radical Rookies", and we won 2nd PLACE RESEARCH at the regional tournament.
2006 . 5th Grade - We used the name "Nanites", following the theme of Nanotechnology, and also from the fact that nanites are tiny robots that work together to solve problems, and we won the 1st YOUNG TEAM award in regionals. We moved on to state and won 2nd ROBOT DESIGN there.
2007. 6th Grade - Using the name "Sylvan Nanites" (all of us being connected to the Sylvan school system), we won DIRECTOR'S AWARD at regionals, and 3rd YOUNG TEAM at state. We were also invited to the HTK International Open in Minneapolis, Minnesota and we place 12th OVERALL (among 63 teams from 11 countries).
2008 . 7th Grade - We went back to the name of "Nanites" as one of our team members moved to a different school, and we got the CHAMPION'S AWARD in regionals, and 1st PROJECT in state.
2009 . 8th Grade [current year] - This year we tried to put most of everything into our team, and we managed to get 2nd CHAMPION'S AWARD in regionals, going up against last year's champs, the Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies. At state, we got 1st PLACE.
---- At the Atlanta World Festival, we recieved first place in programming.
